Harvard University, Boston, MA October 4, 2001

Buck Weimer, inventor of UNDER-EASE Protective Underwear for Flatulence, was among ten other researchers, inventors and scientists to receive the 2001 Ig Nobel Prize. The Ig Nobel Prize is designed to honor people whose achievements celebrate the unusual, imaginative, and goofy elements of science, medicine, and technology.

Nobel Prize winners – actual recipients of the world’s most coveted award for distinguished and groundbreaking discoveries – bestow the awards.

Weimer stresses that UNDER-EASE is a serious memdical product. “While we appreciate the humor – and we get a lot of that – we recognize that it’s a serious medical product, and it’s for people in need.”
